Links Between Criminality and Psysical Body Type Term Paper

Connections Between Criminality and Psysical Body Type - Term Paper Example Connections among culpability and physical body type Criminality was clarified absolutely in good and physical terms two or three centuries prior. Be that as it may, in during the last piece of nineteenth century, criminologists, sociologists and therapists began to grow increasingly exhaustive speculations regarding culpability. The association of physiology or physical body type with guiltiness was first proposed by Italian anthropologist Cesare Lomboso in 1876. â€Å"Lombroso began a custom of physiological hypotheses of guiltiness. These share for all intents and purpose an attention on the person’s physical structure as a marker of criminality†(Sammons, n.d., p.1). Lomboso contended that crooks can be recognized or recognized from a mass populace on the off chance that we investigate the body states of individuals. As he would like to think, solid jaws and substantial foreheads are indications of forcefulness. Despite the fact that Cesare Lomboso’s hypothese s were taken as a joke by numerous individuals at first, later his speculations began to grab the eye of the individuals. As per present day investigates, there are sure individuals with a specific body type who show more forceful practices than others. â€Å"Lomboso proposed that various kinds of criminal had various highlights, so killers had red eyes and wavy hair, while sex guilty parties had thick lips and distending ears† (Sammons, n.d., p.1). ... Lomboso accepted that individuals with thick lip may show more sexual want than others in light of their hereditary characteristics. Sheldon (1949) recognized three essential kinds of substantial form: ectomorph (slight), endomorph (fat) and mesomorph (solid). Sheldon accepted that real form was connected to character and personality so ectomorphs were lone and controlled, endomorphs loose and epicurean and mesomorphs fiery and gutsy (Sammons, n.d., p.1). Sheldon depicted the qualities of various body types as follows: â€Å"Endomorphs-rounder, loosened up agreeable, outgoing; Mesomorphs-solid, dynamic, decisive, desire for power; Ectomorphs-fit, flimsy, contemplative, excessively touchy, love privacy† (Regoli and Hewitt, 2008, p.93). Endomorphs are individuals with typical body structure. They don’t have any objections about their body shape or appearance. Along these lines they will carry on ordinarily in the general public. These individuals might want to take part i n all the more mingling exercises on account of their absence of worries about their appearances. Then again, ectomorphs are very little happy with their physical appearances. They will consistently prefer to avoid the eyes of the general public in light of their inadequacy feeling in appearances. Then again, mesomorphs have solid body and they are glad for their body shape and quality. Arrogance about body shapes and physical quality may constrain mesomorphs to expand their ruling attitude towards others. They view themselves as favored individuals and all others as peons. Individuals with solid body will have more trust in their physical capacities than others. Hereditarily, all individuals like to rule others. In any case, knowledge

Pesticides Effects Essay Example For Students

Pesticides Effects Essay There are numerous significant issues on the planet in regards to the earth and itsaffects on the normal individual. However, the one that hits nearest to home, worldwide, is the trust that people have in the food that they expend. Yetpesticides are as yet discovered every day in nourishments all around the globe. Pesticides aretoxins that are utilized by produce cultivators generally to control bothers that candestroy crops. These poisons are being ingested by people in the types of fruitsand vegetables that have remaining poisons on them. How sheltered are these poisons tohumans and what is being done to defend the earth just as the healthof people? Does the normal individual devour unsafe measures of toxin atevery supper? On the off chance that the levels are perilous, for what reason is this issue proceeding to get ablind eye from the individuals who should ensure society? These questionswhen posed just lead to more inquiries. Until things are done to change thesystems of pesticid e use all around, society can never make certain with regards to the longterm impacts on our condition and what they are eating or providing for the futureof our reality, the youngsters. In some remote nations pesticides are utilized morefrequently with administrative control than in the United States. In Mexico andSouth America, for instance, a large number of the pesticides that the United States andEurope have prohibited, end up being utilized on a larger part of their produce crops. Thelargest issue with this is Europe and the United States import from SouthAmerica for produce constantly. What great does it do to boycott harmfulagricultural synthetic concoctions to be utilized on locally developed yields if crops in othercountries are developed with these equivalent unsafe synthetics, and are then permitted tobe imported? Mexico and South America are the main providers of produce forthe earths populace in light of the fact that their atmosphere is exceptionally helpful for year aroundcrops. Sadly those nations are likewise known for their enormous sum ofinsects all things considered. These creepy crawlies are consistently getting more and moreimmune to poisons that are splashed on crops. In excess of 500 bugs, onehundred and fifty plant maladies and 200 and seventy weeds are nowresistant to pesticides. Results are that U.S. producers also, are steadilyforced to apply more and more grounded poisons. As the sum and the quality of thetoxin expands, the invulnerability of the focused on bugs to these poisons alsoincreases. Complete U.S. crop misfortunes from creepy crawly harm has about multiplied since1945. Bug spray use during this equivalent time has expanded ten times. This war willgo on being pursued until the course of action is changed. The produce send out exchange insome urban areas and nations establishes most of their economy and theywill secure the subsequent pay no matter what. These spots have very littlelegislation to control substance use, and follow up on practically none of itseffects. Authorities couldn't care less how it influences customers, being grown-ups orchildren. Indeed, even their own farming laborers wellbeing is not an issue. Theseofficials just consideration about creating yields and sending out them with as littleoverhead as could reasonably be expected. The main concern is, consistently has been, and consistently will bemoney. In Villa Juarez, Mexico, numerous youngsters who work in the produce fields arecoming down with baffling sicknesses and a few people in this locale put theblame legitimately on those childrens contact with the synthetic acephate and otherpesticides that are utilized around there. The utilization of acephate is unlawful in theUnited States, yet is superbly legitimate in Mexico. Specialists in Juarez are treatingunusually high measures of disease and furthermore fifty to eighty instances of chemicalpoisoning every week in their farming laborers. This proceeds to happenbecause the admi nistration and the cultivators don't take these ailments seriously;the laborers are extra. Cultivators in Culcan Valley, Mexico use synthetics toincrease creation of produce sold in the U.S. each winter. Unfortunately, studies that were preformed by the Government Accounting office in Mexico showedthat in any event six pesticides that are illicit in the U.S. were still on theproduce when it was sent out. Proceeding onward to South America, in Chile there are noclear rules overseeing the utilization of rural synthetic substances on produce crops. In the city of Rancaga, an enormous organic product developing area, an examination was done to checkthe dangers that rustic specialists face, and what they discovered was shocking. Dr. MariaMella found that there is a disturbing measure of sterility and birth abandons dueto introduction to substance pesticides in farming laborers. Congenialdeformities were multiple times higher, and different deformations were a shockingfour times higher than typical in this piece of South America. These investigations wereconducted by the Womens Institute and depended on ten thousand babies bornin this district. Dr. Mella demands that these synthetic concoctions cause distortions ininfants, sterility in laborers, and actuated premature deliveries. Unpleasantly, sheapproximates that up to 60% of pesticides utilized on wheat in SouthAmerica are as yet present on the bread when it is expended. Perceiving how harmfulpesticides can be to the laborers who make the produce, one must ponder howmuch it can influence the shopper, perhaps it relies upon the quality and theharmfulness of the synthetic compounds. In Chile, numerous pesticides are inferred fromThalidomide, a resting pill utilized during the 1950s, yet it was expelled from theUnited States when it was seen as answerable for extreme distortions ininfants, babies conceived without appendages. Different pesticides that are utilized in Chile areparathon, paraquat, and lindane. They have just been restricted in many othercountries. Chile is among the nations with the most fragile and least restrictivelegislation on the control of pesticides. They additionally use items likepentachlophenal, which is a profoundly harmful fungicide utilized on their yields. Itusually winds up saturating ground water, which thusly is expended byindividuals and assaults the focal sensory system. We import strawberries andgrapes from Chile consistently in America that most likely contains at least one ofthese destructive synthetic compounds. We likewi se import an extraordinary level of our bananas fromCosta Rica. The banana business runs the legislature there on the grounds that bananaexportation is the major monetary salary for Costa Rica and they give much oftheir endeavors to keeping up the banana crops. In Costa Rica, banana productionaccounts for five percent of the land, 20% of their fare revenues, and an astounding thirty-five percent of their pesticide business. Laborers startapplying poisons right off the bat in the creation of bananas since they are susceptibleto creepy crawlies. They apply around thirty kilograms of dynamic pesticides per section of land, peryear and they shower fungicide up to forty times each year. This is ten timeshigher than the ordinary sum utilized on produce. The Worldwide Health Organizationsays that the pesticides utilized in South America are the most hazardous in theworld. Producers use synthetics like fenamifos, etoprop, and paraquat, all of whichare restricted or are being assessed. Introd uction of laborers to these synthetic compounds hascaused visual impairment, sterility and even passing. The cultivators utilize such high sums ofchemicals on the grounds that worm pervasion is high in fledging bananas. Therefore, workers tie sacks of pesticides straightforwardly on youthful banana bundles, yet when thewind blows, the packs are cleared into streams and waterways. It is the individuals ofCosta Rica who follow through on a significant expense for bananas. Some notable names in the bananabusiness develop their bananas in Costa Rica. Chiquita, Dole, and Del Monte arejust a couple, for instance, that have fields there. They guarantee that they areconcerned for the soundness of the purchasers and laborers, however they have actuallydone almost no to change the manner in which pesticides are being taken care of and tried. TheCosta Rican administrative assistance is answerable for determining the status of banana growers, but the leader of the division has conceded that he ha s never visited a bananaplantation since he has no financing for vehicles. What sort of dummyorganization is this? The main watches that are being directed are haphazardly donewhen they are sending out the bananas. There has never been a situation when thebananas entering the United States, were checked, didn't surpass the cutoff points ofpesticide buildup. Cultivators are progressively worried about how their bananas look thatif they are destructive to the shopper. This prompts the inquiry, for what reason does theUnited States permit the produce into its general stores? Who is getting paid? Overhalf of the U.S. Place of Representatives has consented to sign another bill thatwill debilitate the government laws in regards to high-chance pesticides in nourishments and water. Parts Emporium Persuasive Essaystates. Beside having deformations, the quantity of frogs in these zones aredwindiling in numbers. The frog populace is likewise diminishing in nations likeAustralia, India, Europe, Central and South America, and in most of thewestern United States. The Declinig Amphibians Population Task Force was set upby the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, and has backing frommany governments, including the United States. Their researchers are continuillylooking for explanations behind the baffling populace diminishes. It has been thoughtthat pesticides utilized by close by ranches is the main source. Researchers havediscovered that not exclusively are the appendeges of frogs being influenced bypesticides and synthetic compounds, yet the hormonal cosmetics of other untamed life is beingaffected too. Numerous pesticides and different chemicles discharged into ourenviornment funtion as endocrine disrupters, adjust the hormonal cosmetics ofwildlife a nd people.

Espaà ±a tambià ©n està ¡ incluida.

Technology Management Competencies And Job Satisfaction

Technology management competencies as predictor of job satisfaction of Pakistani university librarians Despite the growing literature advocating the significance and importance of technology management competencies for librarians, empirical studies focusing on the topic is still very scarce. In particular, the study on technology management competencies involving Pakistani university librarians is unavailable. Drawing upon this gap, this study reports on the findings of an investigation of technology management competencies and job satisfaction among Pakistani university librarians. This study used survey research method involving 225 samples, randomly selected from a population of 540. The result of this study reveal that four†¦show more content†¦Numerous research findings have demonstrated a satisfied worker as an effective job performer (Boyatzis 1982). Therefore, job satisfaction of university librarians is one of the considerable dynamics in augmenting their job performance. Job satisfaction is portrayed as an attitude of persons towards their job (Aydogdu and Askgil 20 11). It denotes the insight of potentials, prospects and aptitude (Testa 2001) and people’s emotional and mental retorts to their work (Hart 2010). On the other hand, like a satisfied worker, a competent employee is a prerequisite for any organizations. Hoffmann (1999) argued that different scholars conceptualized the term competencies in their own individual perspectives, such as psychologists termed competencies as ‘the measurement of capabilities’; HR managers called competencies as ‘individual performance and instrument of strategic management’; while educationists define competencies as ‘work preparation and professional recognition’ (Burogyne 1993). To avoid any conceptual ambiguities, this empirical study describes the term competencies as ‘the knowledge, skills, and attitude of an individual’. These three terms are further elaborated as: 1) knowledge- person range of information, 2) skill - level to utilize knowledge, 3) attitude - job-related thoughts, feelings and motivation (Masrek et al. 2012). Distinctly Visual Essay free essay sample

A distinctively visual text influences our view of the world, and object or a person by the composer presenting us with new ideas and emotions that let us see from another point of view. Henry Lawson is an Australian writer that has the ability to twist his readers into his stories so they understand the true feelings and emotions of the characters. He presents us with the idea the bush is a negative place to live. But all Australians have a connection with it. Distinctly visual texts affect how we see the world and our relationships with others. Henry Lawson acknowledges the hardships of Australian women whose bravery and perseverance is unfairly over looked. Lawson’s admiration of the wife is evident in the portrayal of a strong and independent female protagonist. While the characters traits of the hattered old dog â€Å"alligator† are amusingly represented, it remains the wife who really fascinates the reader. Her appearance and behaviour can be readily pictured and we easily identify with her hopes and fears. He then reflects the harshness with the characterisation of the â€Å"Gaunt sun brown woman† and her â€Å"four ragged, dried up looking children†, This shapes our understanding of the unique Australian traits of toughness and courage towards a hostile environment like the bush. We never learn her name and this anonymity increases the representative role she plays, making the reader more reflective and empathetic about what is revealed, especially when given access t o her thoughts and feelings. By visualising the bush woman’s surroundings the reader can connect with her frame of mind. One is left with an overwhelming sense of loneliness and hardship. Through the use of flashbacks Lawson presents us with the different situations the women has been confront with and the way she has had to overcome them while her husband has been away â€Å"she fought a bush fire.. She fought a flood.. She also fought a made bullock’ and now a snake. The vivid imagery of the environment creates the feeling of isolation and monotony that the drover’s wife experiences in her day to day life. Lawson positions us to accept his visual interpretation of life in the bush defined by continual hardship instead of focusing primarily on the contents of the bush, Lawson focuses on what is lacking. The Lost Thing is a humorous story about a boy who discovers a bizarre looking creature while out collecting bottle tops at a beach. Having guessed that it is lost, he tries to find out who owns it or where it belongs, but the problem is met with indifference by everyone else, who barely notice is presence. Each is unhelpful in their own way, strangers, friends, parents are all unwilling to entertain this uninvited interruption to their day to day life. In spite of his better judgement the boy feels sorry for this hapless creature, and attempts to find out where it belongs. The story soon develops into a fable about all sorts of social concerns, with a ambiguous ending. For a start ‘the lost pet’ is unlike anything we might normally expect. It is a huge tentacled monster, not quite animal or machine, with no particular function or origin. Whimsical, purposeless and estranged from everything around it, it is out of place in a much deeper sense that just being ‘lost’. The environment described by the illustrations also resists any simple reading. A treeless industrial metropolis full of excessive plumbing, mysterious and dehumanising architecture, green skies and cheerless citizens. Nobody pays attention to this ‘lost pet’ despite its disruptive presence, every citizen is too busy in their daily routine to notice. The text is written as a matter-of-fact anecdote, told by the boy and addressed to the reader, presented as a kind of â€Å"what I did over summer† story (hence the use of hand-written text on strips of note paper). Significantly, the creature in question is never physically described, and there is very little said about the environment in which the story unfolds; this is where the illustrations take over. Read by itself the text would sound as though it is about a lost dog in a quite familiar suburb or city, but the pictures reveal a freakish tentacled animal in a surreal a treeless world of green skies, excessive plumbing, concrete and machinery Another short story written by Henry Lawson that displays this connection with the land is â€Å"the loaded dog†. It tells a story of three men that are working on a gold field and leave a explosive lying around. This explosive is then picked up by their dog, who chases them with it lit in its mouth. Unlike â€Å"the drovers wife† Lawson’s ability to balance the harshness of the wish with the larrikin characters. Allows him to make the story entertaining but also life threatening. The visual image of the men following each other being chases by the dog with an explosive in its mouth is an example of this humour Lawson uses throughout the story to conceal the bush during the tory. Lawson uses the almost dried up creek as an example of the ruthlessness the bush has on it occupants. The men usually use the fish as their main source of food but because it has turned into a â€Å"chain of muddy waterholes.. six to seven feet deep† they are fearing they will starve. So they come up with a plan to catch the fish using an explosive. A dog is also present in â€Å"the loaded dogâ₠¬ but it does not have a protector role like the one in â€Å"the drovers wife† rather Lawson mainly convey â€Å"Tommy.. big, black retriever dog.. as their four legged mate† this mate ship is the only thing that is positive in the story, although Lawson uses him as the main cause of all the trouble and excitement. Henry Lawson short stories are both visual texts that have contributed to the Australian myth and have become a voice for the individuals of the 1890’s. His stories still have a meaning of heritage and belonging for today’s society. Shaun tans â€Å"the lost thing† provokes questions

Math Modeling For Economics

Modeling is crucial in economics because it is used in place of the real experiments that could be expensive, time consuming, and dangerous. Mathematical models describe situations with a few words using tools and theorems for making general statements. Here, the focus is on how to explicitly state assumptions with a clear and precise ease of making multi dimensionality descriptions.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Math Modeling For Economics specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In economics different mathematical models have been developed to address certain market trends and behaviors such as demand and supply with time. One such is the models related to competitive markets. The product demand and supply and price changes are dynamic aspects of the system and can be modeled through a differential equation with a constant solution referred to as the equilibrium of the equation. Here, x(t) = f (x) (equilibrium equati on)- definition Based on the above definition, the linear differential equation can be expressed as: x + u (t) = w (t) In this case, w (t) and u (t) are functions of t in the above expression. The homogeneous case here is u (t) =a and w (t) =0 giving the solution for the differential expression: x + ax =0 as x (t) =Ae-at. In this case A is taken as an arbitrary constant. The case for a non-homogeneous situation is x + ax = b where b≠ 0 and a =0,as solution is x (t) =bt +A providing a solution with known initial state x(0) as given by:Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? The dynamics of a price of a single commodity is considered. The demand and supply function is stated as below: Qd=a1-b1P, Qs=a2-b2P, both satisfy the condition aj, bj0. In the above expressions, Qd and Q s are respective values for the demand and supply for the given price P within the parameters aj and bj. If the price changes are taken with the changes in time t, excess demand proportional to the time t is Qd– Qs expressed as P (t) =m (((Qd (t) – Qs (t))), where m0 When substituted: P (t) + m (b1+b2) P = m (a1+a2) giving the solution shown here:Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Math Modeling For Economics specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In this case Satisfying the general case: In this case, the problem related to the above model is demand and supply of a product and its effect on price with time illustrated as x (t) = f (x). Cars Enslave Us Rather Than Liberate Us Essay Example for Free

Cars Enslave Us Rather Than Liberate Us Essay How much effort do you put in travelling to school or workplace each week? Created in 1870, cars have been one of the most useful and spectacular inventions of human beings. The society we live in has recently became completely reliant on these fuel-burning vehicles. It is widely discuss whether cars are a blessing or a real nightmare that may lead people astray. As a young driver, I firmly believe in the liberating power of cars. Not only do they facilitate life, but also encourage to broadens one’s horizons, which may be justified in the following essay. To begin with, cars allow people to travel from place to place with no limits. Basically, they give a perfect opportunity for those who live in the suburbs and have no access to the public transport. Living far away from the city requires the involvement of other people, typically parents, who drive their children to various places. Otherwise, how would they be able to develop and participate in some additional activities, like volunteering or learning to play the violin? It is important to stress that these ingenious machines may give people the fantastic experience of travelling round the world without worrying about covering long distances having a place to sleep when one is on the way! Furthermore, cars have an unquestionable advantage over the means of public transport. Given the choice between walking in the rain to get to the bus station or taking a car and driving directly to one’s destination, who would not prefer the latter? Rarely do people claim that cars are less convenient or luxurious that buses owing to having the air-conditioning system or soft seats. What is more, there is little possibility of getting stuck in the crowd or being exposed to delay or robbery. Surprisingly, people who travel with the use of public transport are more likely to be late and to demonstrate continual anxiety. On the other hand, cars are very expensive to maintain. They burn a lot of fuel and, therefore, force people to be more restrictive about their expenses. However, public transport is not free too. For a five-member family, it is quite more beneficial to have a car since it not only saves money, but also a lot of free time that can be spent on more pleasant activities. To conclude, living without a car appears to have a lot of serious disadvantages. It strikes me that these vehicles save a lot of time and do not put any demand to subordinate to timetables. To my mind, they liberate us rather than enslave us.

Dove and Hawk View of Iraq War Essay -- essays research papers fc

Hawk and Dove Views of the Iraq War On March 18, 2003 the United States invaded Iraq. (The Washington Post) The War with Iraq is a very divisive issue around the world. Turn on any news show and you will see a daily debate on the pros and cons of going to war. Because of the situations that have occurred between the United States and Iraq, very different views and perceptions have developed. Much debate on the justification of the United States for being in Iraq, let alone overthrowing its â€Å"government†, has been presented from both sides – the Hawks and the Doves. My perception sees it like this. There are basically two different views of this war, one view being that of a Hawk and the other view being that of a Dove. The ideology of the Hawk symbolizing strength, sternness, and the notion of seeing what it wants and taking it and the Dove which normally symbolizes peach, love, and harmony, to me seems to be a perfect fit for icons of these two views. Hawks idealistically are mostly republican/conservative in the political scheme of things. The United States and the world had a duty to disarm a rogue nation like Iraq. Saddam Hussein was a tyrant that had demonstrated a complete disregard for human life and needed to be brought to justice. The people of Iraq are an oppressed people, and the world has a duty to help these people. The oil reserves of the region are necessary to the world’s economy. The WORLD not just the United States. An element like Saddam and his regime threatens the oil reserves of the entire region. The practice of appeasement only fosters even bigger tyrants. Saddam had continuously reneged on promises made to disarm any weapons and follow UN resolutions made. The removal of Saddam Hussein and his regime would uphold previous UN resolutions and give the body some credibility. By removing Saddam from power, the world of the future is safer from terrorist attacks. Rush Limbaugh is a very famous journalist and radio personality. He is noted for his Republican/conservative, somewhat brass ways of bringing to light topics with such Debatable justifications. Limbaugh denounces those who are urging restraint against force on Baghdad. "Everybody and their uncle is begging us not to go into Iraq – the Europeans, the West Germans, the Saudis," Limbaugh said. "While everybody wants regime change, they don't have the guts to... ... to be one common denominator between these very different points of view and that is neither side of this issue has EVER stated that they wanted or strived for the goal of going to war. This is called the â€Å"human factor†. No matter which side of the fence you are on here neither side still believes in the morals of a nation and its people, know the differences between right and wrong and have a love for human life. The Hawk’s believe enough is enough and that the U.S. must stand up and end this madness of putting our country in harms way. The Dove’s believe this to but believe there is a better way of obtaining this goal and that is by peaceful talks and compromises coinciding with mutual agreement of the entire world. Whether a person is a Hawkish or Dovish, in the end it probably comes down to their values, their knowledge of the issues, their social upbringings, their politics, and maybe their religion or lack thereof. What Came Before

Looking back on history is a great way to learn how to improve the future. America is built on The Declaration of Independence which is a solid foundation for establishing how we should look forward. As we progress, we can use the values and principles of the past in addition to the mistakes they may have occurred and create a better future.Lesson 2: The Best of IntentionsWhen looking back over our historical roots, we need to consider both the good and the bad. This is how we learn. We can look at how some groups of people were mistreated. We can see how we can be a better human race. We can see the consequences of past choices. We can evaluate successes and find ways to make them even better in the future. History is a great model for us on how to prepare for the future.Lesson 3: The Devil's in the DetailsAll historical events are significantly impacted by emotions and attitudes at that time. The same is true today. People's perceptions, biases, opinions, reactions, emotions, and a ttitudes influence the entire culture. These details shape the entire environment of America.Lesson 4: Pivot PointsPivot Points occur in everyone's lives. It is a time when we are faced with a critical decision and we are required to use a great deal of courage or effort to move in a new direction. This year I am attending a new high school for my senior year. I am very nervous about this since I really don't know anyone at the new high school and i feel like I will be completely lost. But I also feel like it is the best option for me and that I need to try my best to be successful in doing this.Lesson 5: Illusion vs. RealityI think Hollywood has distorted people's reality. We see in movies and on TV that every story has a happy ending. We learn from video games that is something is in our way we can just fire bomb it. This is not how reality works. Sometimes we have bad days. Maybe even bad years. There isn't always a perfect solution. Not everyone can win every time. We just have to learn to not give up and to keep trying. Even if today is bad, we can try for a better day tomorrow.Lesson 6: Integrity of the MindPart of life is learning how to trust yourself and the decisions that you make. As we start life we are told how to do most new things by our parents or a teacher. But they are not always there to give us step by step instructions. So at some point we need to start trusting our instincts and intuition to determine how to best solve problems and complete tasks. Our mind is constantly learning and growing. Through experience, we can trust the decisions we make as we become more mature.Lesson 7: Modern American TranscendentalismI actually watched the movie So I Married An Axe Murdered with my dad. He loves this movie and thinks it is very funny. I thought it was pretty weird but I laughed in it as well. The poetry was reallyn strange to me. It didn't seem to have a point. And the coffee bar where they did the poetry reading was very strange as well. I li ked part of the movie. But I dont' really see how that style of poem writing is very influential on the literary world.Lesson 8: The Origins of Fear in LiteratureHalf my family really likes scary stuff. Me, my dad, and my sister love scary movies. My mom and two brothers absolutley hate scary movies. Its funny to watch scary movies with all of us and see how scared half my family gets. I think it's really funny actually.Lesson 9: Fear of the UnknownI asked my parents if they remember September 11, 2001 and what they were doing. They both knew exactly where they were and what they were doing. They then talked about other significant historical events in their lives, like when President Reagan was shot and when the Space Shuttle crashed. I think these are defining moments for the country and people truly unite in times of tragedy. I'm not sure what events during my lifetime are like this. Maybe when Trump surprisingly won.Lesson 10: The Great American NovelI have an uncle that always says he's going to retire and write the next great American novel. I never really knew what he meant by this. I think he is just bored with his life. It does seem like all the great, award winning novels were written a long time ago. I wonder if someone I know or go to school with will end up being the author of the next great American novel.Lesson 11: Examples of CourageAt church someone said that the trials and challenges we face today as teenagers are more difficult than the challenges the pioneers faced when crossing the plains. This really made me think because I always thought I would totally hate to be a pioneer with no home and wondering where we would get food each day. But then I thought about the challenges I face each day with school, friends, temptations to do bad things, etc. I think it is very challenging to be a teenager right now.Lesson 12: No Run-of-the-Mill ManI remember reading To Kill A Mocking Bird and how Aticus FInch never waivered on how he stood for what he believed in. I've had friends like this. They are not tempted to do bad things. They always do what is right. I think these kinds of people are very admirable. I hope I can be more like that in my lifetime.Lesson 13: Most People Are NiceI think my generation is much better about seeing the good in all people and being less judgemental about others. My grandparents generation and even my parents generation seem to have many more biases and prejudices against different races, sexual orientation, opposing political beliefs, etc. I think my generation is much more accepting of differences in people. I think this is a very positive thing and I hope that it makes the world a better place as my generation gets older.English – 2nd SemesterLesson 1: Small Towns – Big DreamsI have never lived in a small town. But my grandparents came from small towns. I have visited where they grew up and I don't think I could survive. My grandpa was born in a log cabin in Elmo, Utah. He didn't even have running water. I like all of the luxuries of growing up near a Walmart and McDonalds. I feel like it makes it easier to focus on â€Å"big dreams† if I don't have to worry about where I'm going to get water to survive. Living in a civilized community allows me to dream bigger.Lesson 2: The Harlem Renaissance and BeyondBlack writers have had a great influence on literature and arts. I think it is very valuable to learn from their challenges and struggles. I am happy that even though they have had a lot of adversity, they are now becoming very successful. SOme of the greatest musicians, athletes, politicians and business leaders are blacks. They have overcome many obstacles.Lesson 3: Wars and Wars and WarsGreat lessons can be learned from wars. Wars have lead to us being able to enjoy most of our freedoms. Wars have created more equlality. Some wars stem from selfishness. Some wars are fought to overthrow evil dictators. Some wars have good and bad people on both sid es. People fight wars because they are passionate about their belief so much so that they are willing to risk their lives.Lesson 4: Personal Challenges and ChoicesI have had many challenges in my life. When I was four years old I nearly died from Kawasaki's Desease. I lived at Primary Children's Hospital for several weeks until they were able to diagnose my illness. I have had family challenges like my parents getting divorced. I think these things have made me stronger but they were very difficult at the time.Lesson 5: Who Are We†¦And Who Should We Be?These are some of life's biggest questions. I often wonder what my purpose in life is supposed to be. I think all I can do today is try to be the best person I can with values that can shape the person I want to be. Things like honesty and loyalty are attributes that can benefit me today and for the rest of my life. No matter what I become, these values will make me a better person.Lesson 6: And Where Are We Going?Life is a journ ey and there are many times that I may vere off course. I think each time I get off course, my goal is to try and learn from the experience. Where did I go wrong? What could I have done better? This will help me to navigate better in the future. I can grow from each experience and learn how to be a better person.

Preparation Of A Innovative Mixed Matrix Polyethersulfone...

Preparation of an innovative mixed matrix polyethersulfone membranes by inserting graphene oxide nanosheets for wastewater purification 1. Introduction Water is definitely related to the economics of both developing and developed countries where it affects energy and food production, industrial output, and our environment quality. Water is today considered to be a vital and limited resource. With agriculture, livestock, and energy consumption comprising over and above 80% of all water for human use, demand for fresh water is expected to increase with population growth, further stressing traditional sources. Furthermore, growing numbers of contaminants are entering water supplies from human activities and public health and environmental alarms now persuade to cleanse waters considered in the past to be clean. Globally, confirming the sustainable water management can be achieved by developing appropriate water treatment techniques. So what are the challenges? The decontamination of water without the use of chemicals or the production of toxic by-products; the removal of low-concentration contaminants in high backgrounds of potable cons tituents at lower cost; and the re-use of wastewater and water desalination from sea and inland saline aquifers. Due to the main objective of any research work is to try to solve a problem. Hence in this work we are trying to develop novel ultrafiltration membranes using grapheme oxide as inorganic additive to be able to facing the water
